Looking back on this year's German Kendama Championship (DKM) in Leipzig, we are still overwhelmed by the exciting battles for the various titles and the great atmosphere in the Hauzhaus. Of course, the athletic character of the competition is the focus of every DKM, but the coincidence of the scene as well as the fun and the good mood are just as important. The players from all parts of Germany have arrived, coming from the very top of Rostock, as well as from the deep south of Bavaria.
As in all previous DKM's Speed Trick Competition, the trick formats included Knock Out Competiton as well as a freestyle competition.
In the traditional Japanese speed trick discipline, several players compete against each other at the same time, while the aim is to land all ten given tricks in the shortest possible time. The player who has landed the first tricks advances to the next round.
In the classic Knock Out or Head 2 Head competition, two players compete against each other after a loose play. There are individual tricks drawn for which each player has an attempt to land in turns. If one manages the trick and the other does not, he gets a point. If a player has two points he advances to the next round. In the final three points will be played.
Finally, there is still freestyle. In the Freestyle Kendama, players had 60 seconds to show tricks and combinations of tricks. The referees decide on aspects such as creativity, difficulty and flow who made the best run.
