Introducing an Eastern Classic
In Tang era Central Asia, the Buddhist monk Sanzang is sent to fetch some holy scriptures from western regions. To his protection he is accompanied by a group of demon warriors who have been punished by the heavenly court and now get the chance to redeem themselves. Among these are Sun Wukong, the famous Monkey King, Zhu Bajie the gluttonous Pig Demon and Sha Wujing the gentle Ogre. On their journey of 14 years they travel across dangerous mountain and mystical kingdoms, where they battle demons, witches and wild animals. And when there’s nothing else to do there’s plenty of opportunity to quarrel among themselves.

Zhu Bajie
Formerly the marshal of the heavenly guard, Zhu Bajie was punished for drunken behaviour and subsequently turned into a pig demon. Zhu is mostly known for his laziness and a big appetite for food and drinks. But he also has a kind heart and is a loyal and fearless companion. Armed with an iron rake and the ability to cloud surf (though not as fast as Sun Wukong) he is the second strongest member of the team. After his redemption he remains a pig and is appointed cleaner of the altars, where he gets to eat up the leftover food offerings.
